[ when the day finally comes, olivia is not prepared for it. weeks turned into months and months turned into a year, and a year turned into three, but even with all that time to prepare, it still manages to sneak up on her like a surprise. but she had known for over a month now, when her superior had knocked on the little wall of her cubicle and informed her — she would be going home.

ylisse is still an entire world away, paused in time for when she would be ready for it. oska had fallen, but her superior assures her the headquarters is just as pleasant, just as cozy. frankly, it reminds her a litte too much of the prison she had been in when she last called herself an alastair member, but at least this time there were trees. or something like it.

▶ VISUAL: (official artwork reference: full body | close up) olivia stands roughly around 5'3", though due to her tendency to hunch her shoulders and essentially curl in on herself, she tends to come off as a lot smaller, and likely comes up to about 5'0" at best. her eyes are a light purple.

▶ AURAL: (official japanese audio reference: 0:00-0:15) olivia's voice is usually quite soft and almost breathy. it is a fairly high pitch, bordering on squeaky and she tends to stammer when she is particularly anxious. however, this seems to go away once she's grown comfortable or distracted. notably, she is an exceptional singer.

▶ OLFACTORY: there will probably be a vaguely floral or woodsy scent about her... and frankly a tinge of sweat too. she works hard, okok.

▶ DEMEANOUR: shy, skittish, mousy. olivia is very easily spooked and embarrassed, and quite emphatic in her reactions. she is an anxious little thing, quick to self-deprecation and apologies. past these, she is a very passionate person who is extremely sensitive and emotional.

▷ Abilities/Powers

▶ dancing — despite her modest claims, Olivia has been heralded as the best dancer “in all the realms.” In game canon, the ability to Dance almost acts as a supernatural power, supposedly “revitalizing” adjacent players, which then grants them an extra move within the same turn. Since number of moves are not a concern in roleplay, Olivia’s dancing can merely translate to an inexplicable boost in morale and/or energy to those she dances for.

▶ singing — similarly, Olivia’s singing has been noted to be quite exceptional. It does not, however, function in game canon the same way her dancing does, and therefore holds no additional powers.

▶ swordfighting — Olivia is by no means an exceptional swordfighter, but can be decent enough in combat that she wouldn’t be too much of a liability. Because she is not a fighter be design, she is best as support and counterattacking.

▶ photographic reflexes — when it comes to dancing, Olivia is something of a genius, at least in terms of learning new moves. According to her, she is able to learn a new dance after only seeing it just once. However, while she may have the movements down pat, she admits that the more spiritual and/or emotional aspect of the dance requires more work than just that.

▶ healing — (rewarded for December 2015 AC bank) with some concentration, Olivia will be able to heal small injuries (cuts, scrapes, bruises etc) and to help large but non-fatal injuries heal faster. The longer she uses her power, the more concentration and energy it will require.
UPDATED: (rewarded for January 2016 AC bank) Olivia will be able to heal broken bones, torn skin, damage to internal organs and other serious wounds with concentration.
UPDATED 2: (rewarded for June 2016 AC bank) Olivia can now regenerate lost organs, and heal injuries that would otherwise require amputation. With enough focus, she can even give a discharge to the heart, performing a kind of magical defibrillation.
* these powers can also extend to diseases and illness.

▶ empathy — (rewarded for August 2016 AC) ability to sense the emotions of others, however these moments will fluctuate in accuracy and intensity. control will be an issue, even with heavy concentration, and so the only way to escape the emotions will be to physically remove herself from the other person's presence. should she happen to be around a lot of people when emotions are running particularly high, she will be overwhelmed by them and be unable to determine whose is whose.
UPDATED: (rewarded for October 2016 AC bank) with enough concentration, she will be able to control when, with whom, and how much emotion she can sense. similarly, in a large group of people during a high-stress moment, she will be able to filter out the emotions and pinpoint one or two.

A Note: In the following section, a number of characters are mentioned to provide evidence for certain claims. While knowledge of the characters themselves are not pivotal to understanding Olivia's personality, links to their wiki pages have been provided if further information is desired.

PERSONALITY: If it were up to Olivia herself, this entire personality section would be summed up in the phrase, Move along— nothing to see here. Possessing little to no self-esteem, the dancer of Regna Ferox constantly struggles to consider herself anything more than average, at best. Despite the reassurances of her peers and superiors, as well as the tangible evidence of her own influence, Olivia is more often than not the first to insist on her subpar skills and consequent uselessness. This brand of self-deprecation seems wholly inherent, as there has been no given evidence of anything in her past or childhood to suggest any external cause for it. In fact, it seems to exist almost entirely in her own head, breeding a strange form of self-deprecating self-absorption… narcissistic in her own self-hate.

In these moments, Olivia is so far into her own head regarding her insecurities that it takes a conscious and considerable effort from outside parties to convince her of her worth and talent. She is actually never able to bolster herself, and instead has to constantly seek reassurance from others, especially those she happens to admire greatly. These low feelings of hers manifest in anxieties that can generally be crippling; oftentimes, Olivia will talk herself out of things by convincing herself (and others around her) that she is either incapable or lacking. These anxieties seem to be the focal reason for her generally shy and meek demeanor. Quite skittish and very easily embarrassed, she typically comes off as mousey and unassuming, like a frail bird that can be scared off by the littlest thing.

Though, to be fair, “delicate” isn’t an entirely inaccurate phrase to associate with her. A true artist, Olivia is unarguably the most sensitive person among the main cast of soldiers known as the Shepherds. The tiniest (and sometimes even the strangest) thing can set her off; a lone strawberry on a plate, the moon in a cloudless sky, even a single flower in a field will bring tears to her eyes, and in those times she can get so caught up in her emotion that she can’t seem to focus on anything else. Similarly, she will agonize over seemingly small things if she thinks they are important enough to the other person, such as in her support with Vaike, when she’d taken a considerable amount of time to figure out the best way to give him the compliment he’d initially requested of her.

This sensitivity, however, does not always manifest in weakness. Olivia’s passion has proven to be a great strength as well. During her support with the Avatar, Olivia’s love of dancing and her desire to share the art with others pushes her to diligently save her soldier’s allowances, all in the hopes of one day building her own theater. It is likewise her empathy that inadvertently pushes her to commit her bravest acts, such as enlisting with Chrom and his Shepherds, or offering to help Henry, of whom she’d initially been distrustful and wary, to get in better touch with his emotions.

As quick as she is to fright and uncertainty, Olivia is just as quick to kindness and compassion, as well as understanding both enough to recognize it in others. After all, it is not just her technical debt to Basilio and Emmeryn that prompt her loyalty, but also the acknowledgment and appreciation of their benevolence towards her.

Despite her attention to her faults, Olivia never seems to dwell; these low moments of hers only ever seem to crop up in moments where the attention is drawn towards her, or some sort of responsibility has been placed in her hands. In these times, it becomes a sort of knee-jerk reaction of Olivia’s to insist upon her lack of ability or use. In her support with Panne, it’s revealed that Olivia is well aware of this habit, and (as her fellow Shepherd so bluntly suggests) in fact defaults to making these excuses for herself should she ever mess up. It seems to be a pre-emptive defensive mechanism to stave off future failure and subsequent disappointment.

On the other hand, during the times Olivia manages to get out of her own head long enough to focus on something or someone else (or she has grown comfortable enough someone), she becomes the very person she wishes so desperately to be: strong, heroic, dependable, bold. When fearing for another creature’s safety, she hadn’t hesitated to confront and even yell at Henry, whom she had (at the moment) assumed to be dangerous and evil. In the same support, when she’d been struck by a curse, she was quick to insist he leave her for his own safety, without even having to think twice about it. Similarly, she’d been daring enough to reach for Lon’qu’s hand in an effort to encourage and calm him during a time of frustration for him. And in her support with Ricken, she’d broken out of her shy shell after getting so caught up in the stories she was telling. In battle, she is focused, able to come to the aid of her fellow soldiers without a second thought or second-guessing. Though there is, of course, is no better example for this assiduity than when she is dancing; as a performer, whether on stage or on the field, Olivia truly shines. There, she is elegance and grace and confidence, as great as she has always wished to be.

Of course, she still has quite a lot to learn. Despite her experiences in the traveling caravan, Olivia tends to come off as fairly sheltered and naive, such as her obliviousness with Virion’s initial flirtation and her general befuddlement whenever any of her male supports attempt to propose to her. With regards to her anxieties and low self-esteem, she is at least well aware of her problems in the area and has expressed a desire to overcome them. During a number of her supports, Olivia goes out of her way to learn from her fellow Shepherds, whether it be getting better at communication or understanding the intricacies of a new, spiritual dance. While sometimes she may need a bit of encouragement, Olivia is, at the very least, always willing to try. Given this, perhaps the more accurate phrase to sum her up, if she has to be summed up at all, is in that – the simple desire of hers to become a better version of herself in order to help and inspire others.
